In this opinion article, The Trentonian columnist L.A. Parker responds to the Trenton City council members’ introduction of an ordinance that “prohibits smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes and electronic cigarettes in parks, recreational areas, city facilities and inside city vehicles”. “[S]moke has this city in the stranglehold of poverty, crime, unsuccessful education, trash, drugs, and piss-poor public urination events. No doubt those that support this initiative have a valid calling” writes L.A. Parker, “but we do near nothing about more serious issues”. As an example, L.A. Parker notes problems with throwing out mattresses and how Public Works cannot even respond to that problem.
