Princeton BOH to license retailers that sell e-cigarettes (Phillip Sean Curran, Princeton Packet)

The Princeton Board of Health is considering that local retailers selling e-cigarettes and other similar products be required to apply for and obtain an annual license from the local health department. The fee being considered would be $1,200 for the annual license. The vote is scheduled for September, and if approved would go into effect in 2017.
Princeton has seven stores that sell electronic smoking devices, all of which the Health Department intends on educating the merchants of on the requirements they need to meet in order to comply.
GASP’s Executive Director, Karen Blumenfeld stated, “The communities are doing this because it really allows for that town to track the locations that sell electronic smoking devices.” If Princeton enacts the law, to will be the 14th town in New Jersey to do so, and the first in Mercer County, according to Karen Blumenfeld, Esq., GASP Executive Director.
