NYC proposes ban on smokeless tobacco use at baseball stadiums (5 news outlets)

On February 25, 2016, the NYC Council’s Health Committee held a hearing to gather testimony on a proposed bill that will ban the use of smokeless tobacco at ticketed events such as major league baseball stadiums like the Met’s Citi Field and Yankee Stadium. Committee Chair Corey Johnson introduced the bill, which is supported by Campaign for Tobacco-free Kids, a national advocacy organization that has helped other cities accomplish the same law.
At the hearing, GASP Executive Director Karen Blumenfeld testified about the benefits of creating tobacco-free environments for youth. Many news stories have recently been published on the bill. Read them below:
