Edgewater considers raising age to 21 for tobacco sales (Edgewater View, reporter Svetlana Shkolnikova)

Edgewater introduced an ordinance a week ago to raise the age from 19 to 21, to be sold tobacco and electronic smoking devices, but decided to table the measure and defer to the state for any action. Rather, the Council wants to pass a resolution to support a state law. Read more in the July 31, 2015 news-clip.
GASP comment: It is GASP’s understanding that the town received at least one letter from the tobacco industry lobbyists that the community should not pass the ordinance, but rather wait for the state to enact a policy.
