Board of Trustees

President: Dr. Fred M. Jacobs, former Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, and current Executive Vice President and Director of the Saint Barnabas Quality Institute. In 2006, he played an instrumental role in the passage of the New Jersey Smoke-Free Air Act. For more info, click here.
Vice-President: Senator John Bennett, J.D., is a 24-year veteran of the New Jersey State Legislature. During his tenure, he served as Senate President and Acting Governor, and is currently a partner with the law firm of Dilworth Paxson, LLP
Secretary: Dr. Neal Collins is Senior Medical Director of Pfizer's Global Medical Oncology. He is very active in smokefree initiatives, as a Councilman and Board of Health member for Chatham, NJ.
Treasurer: Louis Rigamonti is an accountant with a 30-year diverse career in finance, cash management and accounting. He works and resides in Summit, NJ.
Past President: Dr. Douglas Chester, retired as Board President in September 2008, after serving for 28 years. He's a tobacco-control advocate since his dental school days. He is a practicing dentist in Union, NJ.


Executive Director: Karen Blumenfeld, J.D.
, joined the staff and Board of Trustees in Spring 2008. She has worked with NJ GASP for 17 years, and continues in her role as Director of our Policy & Legal Resource Center. Karen is recognized internationally in tobacco control, especially in the emerging areas of smokefree casinos, and in protecting children and housing residents from secondhand smoke.
