Chicago City Council raises the age to 21 to be sold tobacco and e-cigarettes (MSNBC, Mary Ann Ahern)

Today, NBC in Chicago reported that the City Council voted through the proposed ordinance #2016-105 to raise the age to 21 to be sold tobacco including smokeless, and e-cigarettes. The initiative was introduced by Mayor Emanuel. This proposed ordinance also was voted through to ban smokeless tobacco use at ticketed outdoor professional and amateur sporting events. The City Council also voted through ordinance #2016-1755 that will impose higher city taxes on the sale of “Other Tobacco Products” which are defined as smokeless tobacco, smoking tobacco, little and large cigars (cigarettes and e-cigarettes are not included).
