Bloomberg News reported on a new U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) study that shows 80% of middle and high school students, or 18.3 million students, saw ads for e-cigarettes at retail stores, the internet, tv, the moves, newspapers and magazines.
The report stated that such exposure might contribute to increased use of e-cigaretes among youths.” The report recommends a “multifaceted approach to youth tobacco prevention” include requiring that products are only sold to adults, and federal and state regulation of e-cigarette advertising.
The study was published in the CDC’s January 5, 2016 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. The CDC also found an increase in e-cigarette and hookah use by youth in an April 2015 study.
