Smokefree parks and tobacco 21 bills move forward in NJ Assembly (The Record, John Ensslin)
Posted on
On February 22, 2016 two NJ bills that Governor Christie vetoed in the last legislative session are being fast-tracked: making public parks, recreational areas and beaches smokefree, and increasing the age to 21 to be sold tobacco and electronic smoking devices.
The smokefree parks bill A893 was voted through unanimously in the Assembly Tourism Committee and was referred to the Finance Committee. The Tobacco 21 bill A2320 was voted through the Assembly Health Committee, and its Senate Companion bill S359 was voted through the Senate Health Committee a few weeks ago. GASP provided testimony at both February 22 hearings.
