Geneva Housing Authority board approves smoking ban (Finger Lakes Times, David L. Shaw)

According to the Finger Lakes Times, smoking will be prohibited in 228 housing units managed by the Geneva Housing Authority effective April 1st 2016.
The smoking ban is said to be included in the 2015-16 agency plan approved July28 by the authority’s Board of Commissioners.
This ban will prohibit smoking inside units and in common spaces in 90 rental units at Elmcrest Apartments on Lewis Street, 100 units at the Courtyard Apartments and on Goodman Street and the authority’s 38 scattered sites in the city.
The housing authority’s executive director, Andre Tyman says, “its being done for health reasons for residents and staff. He also said that the federal government is going to mandate the smoking ban soon for federally subsidized housing units.
