Tenafly proposes new age limit to purchase tobacco products (Passaic Valley Today, Robert Christie)

On July 13, Tenafly’s city council introduced an ordinance to increase the age of tobacco sales to 21. Karen Blumenfeld, Esq., Global Advisor on Smokefree Policy’s Executive Director, spoke during public comment on the benefits of such policies to help youth and young adults not initiate tobacco use. The vote was almost unanimous, with Mayor Peter Rustin stating that it’s a positive.
GASP was also present at the June 30 Council meeting to provide educational resources on the topic.
