Schroeder Institute Et Al Addictive Behaviors Journal explores Addiction Links Between Alcohol, Tobacco, and Marijuana
In this study, researchers examined the correlates of tobacco products, marijuana, and alcohol use in young adults. Researchers drew data from over 1,000 people aged 18 – 24 using a survey. This survey included questions such as whether the person identified with attention seeking traits and whether they had used a product within the past 30 days.
- Alcohol use is related to e-cigarette, hookah, and LCC (little cigars/cigarillos) use
- Marijuana use was related to e-cigarette, hookah, and LCC use, although not as strongly correlated as alcohol use
- Those who identified themselves as being sensation seeking ‘moderated alcohol use association to tobacco product use’.
