The Washington Post Editorial Board Discusses Raising All Federal Tobacco Taxes
Posted on
In an August 2 editorial, The Washington Post discusses how tobacco manufactures found a loophole to the 2009 increase in taxes on cigarettes. Many companies are driving users to purchase pipe tobacco and large cigars as the taxes on these devices are relatively low. This shift in purchasing has cost the federal government $3.7 billion in revenue and has lessened the effect of high tobacco prices on stopping teens from starting to smoking. More on this can be read at The Washington Post.
