New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee called for a banning the use of smokeless tobacco on the field and in the dugout during the Major League Baseball’s (MLB) 2010 World Series, citing the influence of ball players using smokeless tobacco, on children viewing the World Series. Congressmen Pallone (NJ) and Waxler (CA) first requested a ban on smokeless tobacco in MLB on April 14, 2010 at a federal Health Energy and Commerce committee hearing.
