On May 9-11, 2011, the inaugural National Smokefree Gaming Symposium was held in Las Vegas at a 100% smokefree Marriott facility. GASP served on the steering committee to help organize the conference. GASP also moderated the legal panel which included Vince Rennich, the New Jersey casino worker who settled his litigation against the Tropicana for $4.5 million (see the December 2010 Associated Press article), and his attorney Jeffrey Carton. Both the Las Vegas Sun and Las Vegas Review Journal newspapers reported on the symposium, featuring Vinnie’s story of being a lifelong nonsmoker whose only exposure to secondhand smoke was during his 27-year career as a casino dealer at the Atlantic City Tropicana casino hotel, and his five-year lawsuit that settled in 2010.
