NJ Senator Shirley Turner proposes bill to fund the state’s tobacco control program

State Sen. Shirley Turner (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) proposed a bill to reinstate funding for tobacco cessation and education programs to the 2010 level of $7.5 million. Turner hopes that this funding will allow for people to become more aware of the dangers of tobacco. Currently, the state is receiving over ninety million dollars from the national tobacco settlement, however that money is going to aid the budget deficit, not to help with smoking addiction.
